Flowers Bar and Restaurant, in the U District, had their liquor license suspended by the Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board on June 7, 2023, for repeatedly serving underage patrons, a pattern of violent incidents, and refusal to cooperate with law enforcement. The license was eventually revoked by the LCB.
The Hamade family, the folks who owned Flowers, have now applied for a liquor license for their soon-to-open cafe at 5903 24th Ave NW in Ballard. In addition to the repeated violence at their previous establishment, Sonu and Siraj Hamade attacked a neighbor in front of their then-vacant business on June 14, 2025, in an attempt to steal his cell phone.
The application is made by a brand new LLC, which uses Sonu's and Fadi's daughter, and another family member, as proxy owners for the new cafe, disguising their direct involvement. Building permits for 5903 going back to August 2025 cite "Evergreen Cafe" as the customer, but the business wasn't even formally established until May 6, 2026.
The Hamades have a well-documented history of violence toward patrons, serving underage patrons, ignoring health code regulations, and interfering with law enforcement. For more details of the Hamades' adventures at Flowers, including closures by the Health Board and by LCB, violent incidents, and press coverage, see this page.

There are two LLCs involved in the new venture. That makes it non-obvious that the Siraj, Sonu, and Fadi are involved, but it's easy to trace using public records.
The applicant is Evergreen Cafe 5903 LLC, with a business name of Sea Rose. Washington UBI is 606-215-716. Managers listed are Raya Hamade (sister of Siraj, daughter of Fadi and Sonu), and Param Natt. The corporation was formed on May 6, 2026, with both business and mailing addresses of 5903 24th Ave NW. Liquor license posting date is May 11, 2026.
The property is owned by Eastlake Hill Properties LLC (UBI 604-104-129), address 1512 NE 130th Pl, Seattle, 98125-4136 (a house owned by Fadi Hamade and Simrita Natt). The only officer listed for that corporation is Sonu Hamade (sonu_hamade@yahoo.com, 206-883-5344). Although Siraj's and Fadi's names have been kept off the paperwork, neighbors report that they're the people who have been doing most of the renovation work.
